ATLANTA — Oct. 8, 2016 — Georgia Power announced today that the demolition of the Plant Branch stack scheduled for Sunday, October 9, 2016 has been postponed due to the extensive damage across South Georgia caused during Hurricane Matthew. The Plant Branch stack did not sustain any damage, however all available Georgia Power personnel are focused on restoration efforts in the areas significantly affected by the storm.

Georgia Power appreciates the cooperation of the professional demolition contractor, and multiple state and local officials and agencies including the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT); Baldwin and Putnam County sheriff’s offices and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), among others.
